Wipers - cleaning rubbers - are built into Roland eco-solvent-inkjet-printers for the cleaning of the printheads which they clean at the bottom. Wipers are always messy with ink residue dried on them and have to be cleaned regularly. Wipers are made of hard rubber and have to bes olvent-resistant. So they do not go to pieces or bend when they get in touch with ink or cleaning fluid. To clean the wipers you best use cotton sticks soaked in the cleaning fluid belonging to the solvent ink in use. It is important to remove the ink residue completely. So it cannot smear up the printheads and clog the nozzels. This leads to lapses of the nozzles and bad printing results. The cleaning work should be performed daily best before the start of work. As a check we recommend a nozzle test after the cleaning. So the user can see if all nozzles work. If neccessary carry out the test a second time to see if you have achieved an improvement. Wipers are wearing parts and should be changed regularly at least every 6 months, in case of very high performance even more often. Wipers should always be available on site so they can be used immediately in case of a worsening of the printing results. You can extract wipers easily with a tweezer and also insert them back again. The Roland manual contains an illustrated description of that work. The cleaning of the wiperscrapers which clean the wipers and which should be cleansed and changed together with them to guarantee proper printing results belongs to this process also.
This kind of wipers is used in many Roland printers named: BN-20; RA-640; RE-640; VS-300; VS-420; VS-540 and VS-640.
